Spreading the poll around . . .

USA Today poll on gay marriage ruling

The question? Do you agree with the Massachusetts court decision that same-sex couples should be able to marry?

I'd hope anyone reading this journal would already know how I voted. ;)

I really don't understand all the No votes. I mean, if you're voting no then you clearly are not gay. If you are not gay then whether of not gay people get married is really not going to impact your life in a huge way. Gay couples use a stack of expensive legal documents to mimick what hetero couples get automatically with a $20 license. Those relationships are already there! Allowing legal marriage isn't going to make more people gay! It's just going to save gay couples thousands of dollars in lawyer fees and hours of arguing with hospitals and insurance companies. Really, what does it matter what other people do if it doesn't impact your life, even the people you don't like? It just strikes me like the crabby people who want to ban books they've never read because they heard the content was offensive. If you don't like a book topic, don't read it! If you don't like gay marriage, don't be gay and try to get married!

Well I dont' think it is thier decision to make in the first place. The idea that things are expressly forbidden unless blessed by the state is one (among many) that irks me. To answer the question though, I'm glad they say same-sex couples sould be able to marry, Yes.

Though I think it's an easy decision to make when they know for a fact that the Bush administration has lawyers at work right now, drafting a constitutional amendment to say that marriage is ONLY between a man and a woman.
