No power

I got my Peter Gabriel CD in the mail yesterday, referenced in this LJ post, but could not listen to it because severe storms knocked out our power for over twelve hours. Some of the metro Atlanta area is still without it. Electricity finally returned about 2 am this morning. Last night was very Laura Ingalls Wilder, with the two of us hunched over books, trying to read by candlelight.

Quite a bit of debris on the roads in our immediate vicinity -- pine trees blew over, and little bits of limbs and bark are everywhere. Makes the whole area smell nice, but kind of hard to drive through.

Oh man! We were out for about 2-3 hours last night and that was enough! The odd thing was, it went out during a really quiet time, it was raining and had been all evening, but no big storm, no thunder or lightening! It flickered 3 or 4 times and then was out a little after midnight and was out till 2:45am. I would have gone to a hotel if it was still out this AM! I'd be content to relax in a nice quiet house but the kids get really irritated with the lack of tv and hot food in a hurry!

*chuckles* Husband gets pretty grumpy about lack of power -- to the point that he went to bed early.

Husbands thankfully, also do not hit you with the tivo remote chanting "show show show!!" I got to bed around 2am but woke back up when the power came back on and everything in the house clicked or clacked or sproinged or whirred back to life! You don't realize how much background noise there is until its really really quiet for a while!

I'll bet Northside marked their calendars for 9 months from last night! Lots of people went to bed early!
