In a spin -- hurrying up just to relax!

Am running around like the proverbial chicken with its head cut off, trying to get ready to leave town Wednesday night for a brief trip to the mountains. Have (I hope) just made reservations for the 4th of July in DC to go to my friend's wedding; will have to call back and make sure Janice got it in, as their computer was down when I called.

In basic "to do list" mode, I have to pay one more bill before I go, fill out guest app, pack, make plane reservations for the 4th, go by the bank and deposit my paycheck, observe one-year anniversary of guild founding in game, run by the Fresh Market and pick up some rosemary bread just before we leave, get my sister a birthday present and card, recharge my Palm Pilot, charge the batteries in the digital camera, take Mom her belated Mother's Day present, get my Dad a Father's Day present and card, and, most importantly, deal with the mounds of orange goo in my fridge. No, it's not radioactive: it's the dough for cheese wafers, an old family recipe that's time-consuming enough that I only make it every few years or so.

I'm relatively certain I'm not going to have time to get my hair cut before going up there, dang it -- I'll just have to deal with my parents mentioning it. :/ Apparently they have some deep-seated concern that if they do not mention the fact that I need a haircut, I will simply allow it to grow until I am completely obscured and hidden by a curtain, a la Cousin It. :þ

Tonight, I can do none of it: we are headed to see Peter Gabriel in concert -- my first show of that sort in years. Kinda excited.

All this work . . . just to get ready to relax for two days! Does this sound strange to anyone besides me? :)

and, in the middle of all that, I thought you were going to the flesh market, and I was at once intrigued and horrified.

Good luck in getting things done, and again, I'm sorry I was an idiot.

And have FUN tonight.

I am *so* jealous! We had planned to go up and leave my kids with my parents that weekend. My mom ended up needing surgery on her wrist and blew our plans to hell. Once we decided that there was no way we could go, she pops up and says she feels great and is coming down here! Of course, now it's just too short notice to go and I don't really trust mom alone with the kdis with a bum wrist, even if she thinks she's fine.

Have a great time and give the bride and groom a big hug from me!
