In a spin -- hurrying up just to relax!

Am running around like the proverbial chicken with its head cut off, trying to get ready to leave town Wednesday night for a brief trip to the mountains. Have (I hope) just made reservations for the 4th of July in DC to go to my friend's wedding; will have to call back and make sure Janice got it in, as their computer was down when I called.

In basic "to do list" mode, I have to pay one more bill before I go, fill out guest app, pack, make plane reservations for the 4th, go by the bank and deposit my paycheck, observe one-year anniversary of guild founding in game, run by the Fresh Market and pick up some rosemary bread just before we leave, get my sister a birthday present and card, recharge my Palm Pilot, charge the batteries in the digital camera, take Mom her belated Mother's Day present, get my Dad a Father's Day present and card, and, most importantly, deal with the mounds of orange goo in my fridge. No, it's not radioactive: it's the dough for cheese wafers, an old family recipe that's time-consuming enough that I only make it every few years or so.

I'm relatively certain I'm not going to have time to get my hair cut before going up there, dang it -- I'll just have to deal with my parents mentioning it. :/ Apparently they have some deep-seated concern that if they do not mention the fact that I need a haircut, I will simply allow it to grow until I am completely obscured and hidden by a curtain, a la Cousin It. :þ

Tonight, I can do none of it: we are headed to see Peter Gabriel in concert -- my first show of that sort in years. Kinda excited.

All this work . . . just to get ready to relax for two days! Does this sound strange to anyone besides me? :)
