We got a new microwave!

So, our old microwave was probably one of the first ever made. Seriously, it was nearly 30 years old (I inherited it from my grandmother).

It hadn't died, but we dreamed of new features like digital displays and the absence of faux wood housing. We'll be moving it upstairs for convenient reheating of beverages and such.

Finally, we have a new microwave in Darth Vader black to match most of our other kitchen appliances! Apologies for the lousy cell phone picture and the torso reflection, but glossy new oven is glossy:

New microwave!

Panasonic NN-H965BF

I did a fair amount of research prior to purchasing it, so I hope it will last as long as the previous Panasonic.

Edit, 7:43 pm: I just used it for the first time. I am amused: the digital display read, "Enjoy your meal." Hee! I suppose I should be glad it didn't say "Share and enjoy," else I'd be looking all over the box for a Sirius Cybernetics Corporation emblem. :)

Hooray for new microwave!! Now wish me the same luck finding a new toaster - so far the only option with the features I'm looking for is far more money than I feel is reasonable for a toaster oven...but, I'm still searching:)

Thank you! I can't wait to try the popcorn button. I've read that it's better to sit there and watch the popcorn rather than relying on a button, but I just want to test it and see how close ours comes to being useful. :)

I will be interested in seeing the results of Toasterquest 2010! Have you a link to the model that includes the features you like, albeit at an unreasonably inflated price?

We still have the microwave that we got as a wedding gift! We got a newer one a while back and installed it over the stove, but it keeps blowing the breaker so I just use the old one and save the trip to the basement!

I love that yours tells you to enjoy your meal! That's cute!

It might look like Darth Vader on the outside, but it has a spirit of optimism and cheer on the inside! Well, that, or it is commanding us to enjoy our meal with the implied threat that we will suffer death by Force asphyxiation if we don't. ;) Perhaps it is in collusion with the Roomba! We must never let the one know about the other!

Silliness aside, that's frustrating about the breaker! I know nothing about electricity so I can offer nothing but sympathy on that.
