Dollhouse analysis

With all the holiday madness, I'm only just now through episode 10 of Dollhouse's second and final season; three more to go, two of which have already aired.

After viewing "The Attic," I did a little Googling, and came across this (contains spoilers through "Epitaph One"):

Asking the Wrong Questions: Alpha and Omega

The article makes an excellent point about how it would be impossible for the first half of S1 to have come from the original pilot. The author is right. Given the information that was provided there, I have to wonder if S1 would've looked more like S2 has, and if the show would've gotten to the point much sooner without Fox's interference.

Just a general link: Dollhouse Wiki

interesting.... i think yes and no. Joss has stated he has no problem with standalones and he himself feels that dollhouse drifted from his idea about exploring identity, sexuality and fantasy.

i think we would have had S1 more like the first few episodes of S2, but come Season 2 itself then Perrin would have stayed in the background, Ballard would have investigated more cases and Adelle 'losing' the dollhouse would have been the season finale leading to season three where she would have fought for control and the big reveal in that season would probaly have been Perrin and then Adelle sending Echo to the attack becomes the finale there.

But then again... i've heard rumours that season 3 was to be set in the future of Epitaph one. But i don't know if that's true.

Sometimes, I wish Joss would release The Big Book of What was Originally Intended for My Shows. :) I know he probably wouldn't do so in case he needs those ideas later, but it would be an interesting read!

Yes, I agree that things with Ballard would've likely progressed more slowly -- we might've found out what Tanaka's deal was, for example.

and that freaky picture of his wife in 00 Echo.

i liked his partner at the FBI, would have liked to see more of her.

and Alvirez kicked serious ass.

and Tango. More Tango would have been good.

One thing about Tim Minear i like, he always puts his scripts on-line.

At the FBI - do you mean Loomis? I liked Loomis! Actually, I think I just like Aisha Hinds, who also played Miss Jeanette in True Blood.
