Thank You for Smoking

I just got around to watching Thank You for Smoking. I liked it a lot: everything from the slick titles to the scene where Hollywood teaches Big Tobacco a thing or two ... all very precise and sharp. Terrific cast that's full of cameos (Rob Lowe's appearance is especially entertaining). As for the lead, Aaron Eckhart is sleazy, yet not entirely unsympathetic. I've only seen him in this and The Dark Knight, but based on those two performances, I'd like to see more.

The definitive Aaron Eckhart performance is, imho, In The Company of Men. He pretty well established his sleazy but likeable persona in that film ... so thoroughly, in fact, that seeing him playing earnest characters in other movies (like The Core) always makes me suspicious.

I've just added it to my queue.

By the way, you win for the best restaurant recommendation in San Francisco. Tu Lan ended up being one of our very favorites!
