When I watched it, they only counted to 12! When my kids watched it, I was shocked that they went to 20, they had added different polygons to the standard circle, square, rectangle, and triangle, and while there were still some bilingual segments, there were a lot fewer than I remember as a kid! Of course, as a kid, I thought they were trying to teach me Spanish, it never occurred to me that they might also be teaching Spanish speaking kids English! A year or so ago I watched a documentary about SS and learned a lot more about the history and the current 'behind the scenes' workings. It's really an amazing show, it was groundbreaking in so many ways, technologically, politically, educationally, psychologically...It really has changed our world! When I was a kid, we learned letters and numbers in K and how to read in 1st. Where I was still struggling with the concept of silent E in 1st grade, my kid was reading at a 6th grade level. When people ask me how I made her so smart, I always say "Too much public television!" Heaven knows I didn't teach her all that!
