Rules are for everyone else, right?

Memo on harsh interrogations declassified

I found this bit particularly appalling:
"Our previous opinions make clear that customary international law is not federal law and that the President is free to override it at his discretion," the memo said.

In other words, a continuing attitude that the rules apply to everyone but us ... and Americans wonder why we're perceived as arrogant. /sigh

It comes as no surprise that future assessments will likely stay secret.
