New Year's resolution

I think I'm going to have to swear off all social engagements save for those previously scheduled until we get unpacked. Given how scheduled we already are, it could be May before we start to get seriously unboxed. :/ Must get this done. I can't go out to play until we get the place in order.

On a brighter note, someone has posted snippets of The Space Giants to YouTube. I found them on DVD, but $45 is a little more than I want to pay for 70s nostalgia. Does anyone besides me remember this show?

You mean Gam, and his oh-so-imaginatively named parents Goldar and Silvar? Oh, yes, I remember it. Mainly, I remember it being terrible :)

Oh, it was. It was cheesy and low-budget and as a very young child, I loved it. It and Star Blazers were my afternoon viewing. I could watch those two things, and then I had to go outside and play or, if it was raining, help my mother or do homework or read a book so that the television didn't entirely rot my brain. :)

Dreadful though it is, I still have a bit of nostalgic affection for it.

No, no I don't. And I'm old. And I have an older brother who is even older--so I used to watch whatever he watched, and like whatever he liked (hey, so I idolized my older brother--so waht). And I still don't remember the Space Giants.

Anyway, I hope you're enjoying the new year, and good luck with the unpacking. :)

Well, maybe it didn't air in your area or something. That, Star Blazers, and G-Force were primary afternoon viewing for me when I was a child. Nothing at all wrong with idolizing your older brother. I think all of us elder siblings are danged grateful for it.

Thank you, sweetie. *huggles* I just miss cooking, drat it, and I can't cook until I get really unpacked.

I remember Star Blazers and G-Force. As well as Land of the Lost, though that may have been later (in years, not later in the afternoon).

Sadly, I do remember the Space Giants - despite the therapy. :)

On New Year's Resolutions, I wasn't really making any to begin with. (My plans to lose the holiday tonnage that gathered around my waist were the same plans I'd make if I'd gained this much in summer...) But I ran across this quote from Morley Safer, of all people, which may well have put me off of resolutions forever:

"I resolve to never make resolutions. My sins are all pleasurable, my virtues impeccable. I love animals, small children and I am never cruel to grown-ups, unless it is absolutely necessary. I smoke too much and occasionally over-medicate on good red wine. Saints are the most tedious people, humorless and lacking in imagination. I have no intention of ever becoming one."
