Divorcing Project Runway

I can't believe I'm the first on my F-list to blog about the finale, but for once, go me. ;)

I was never as much of a fan as my husband, not by far, but I stayed tuned mostly because it was something we could watch together and because it made good water cooler conversation at the office.

However, my sister and I both agree about next season: the heck with it.

WTF? You have got to be kidding me. I thought Laura's collection was the most professional in terms of cohesiveness and assembly. I would've been okay with Uli winning, although I'll admit to a "Where did this Uli come from?" reaction when I saw some of her stuff. Jeffrey was my third pick based strictly on his line, not how much of a jerk I think he is personally, however, by all rights, he shouldn't even have been there. Michael dropped the ball entirely.

Producers, the show has no integrity whatsoever if you're just going to completely go for the drama over the actual talent displayed in what is designed.

I knew I wouldn't like "reality" television. I've even tried it now, and can say that I don't like it.

Oh, well, it'll be nice to get 46 or so minutes of time back that the show isn't occupying each week.

Laura is my fave.

And TopChef- cheesy reality FOOD tv. I hate myself for watching. But I do.

I'm going to give Top Chef a chance for the first few episodes, but only because they got rid of Katie Lee Joel and I have to acknowledge that.

Top Chef gives me heartburn. :)

Plus, Billy should have waited on me!!! I've been madly in love with that man since I was ten!

Jeffery won? My tivo clipped off th last 4 minutes in favor of something else so I got the whole show, save the last 4 critical minutes!

I agree that Michael's stuff was a little too out there, and a bit repetative, he was trying to be cuitting edge and he failed. His urban chic turned rather home ec! Uli's stuff just didnt impress me. A couple of dresses looked like the model was wearing a bath towel with a belt at the top! I love Laura's designs, but as a stuffy, older, white chick, I'm probably her target demographic. I can see how it isn't as appealing to the younger set. I feel like no one said that the collection had to span ages/stages so she stuck to her forte, then got pummeled because she only did eveningwear where everyone else did a more varied selection. I'll bet that even without winning, she's going to get a job in a large design house very quickly so I won't feel too bad for her! It was obvious that that the guest judge really preferred her stuff!

Now Jeffery, Ugh! I HATED his stuff all season long. The picnic table dress, the 'babydoll' dress, I really hated most of what he did and wondered often if they didn't keep him on just to keep the cast bickering and stressed! I should have known he'd win when they went so far the other way to soften his persona to the world. Having him talk about his suicide attempt and how his son really turned his life around, how he's really a softy at heart! However, I think for his show, he really pulled it together. The pieces were more finished, more 'wearable' than the stuff he did for the challenges. The pieces fit together and flowed nicely from one to the next. I can see that judging ONLY on the runway show, he could win it. Yet, I think if you total up all his efforts for the entire season, he still comes up short. On the other hand, based on season long performance, Michael should have won it hands down! At least he got the viewer choice award!

I totally agree with you about Uli and her belted bath towel dresses. Ugh!

I actually watch it more for the design element and not so much about the drama. I do get caught up in it from time to time. I have to say that my response to Jeffrey winning was akin to indigestion, ugh! He had two pieces that didn't have any continuity with his collection and he STILL won? WTF? I was so disappointed, even though Michael dropped the ball, Laura did evening wear and Uli made some weird choices their collections had more a sense of continuity. His collection did not feel couture to me at all. I am horribly disappointed!

Here's my problem with Jeffrey and Uli's clothes -- who the hell is going to wear them?

No, seriously, that's my question. NO ONE outside of LA or New York is going to wear Jeffrey's clothes. No one outside of Miami or a resort is going to wear Uli's clothes. I wanted to bitchslap Michael Kors when he said Jeffrey's line showed a woman through her phases, including "...even, somewhat, work..." (paraphrase).

At what would this woman being working, Michael? Trying to be the woman on top of the car in a White Snake video? Ugh!

PLUS!!! Oh god, this makes me so mad! You have to be a size 2 or less for Jeffrey's clothes. If you are more than a size 8 in Uli's you are going to look like you're wearing a tent. I hate that! Michael's clothes usually aren't as bad as his collection (what was he thinking?) but those belts he had on those models? Again, unless you are a 2 or less, you would look huge in them. Same with Uli's strapless things with the bone clasp.

Laura's collection, hands down, was perfect. Everything was beautiful and "meticulous" (yes, Michael, thank you). I don't know how Nina wants to be "wow'd" because those dresses were stunning. Yes, they were an evening wear collection but the guest judge said it best - "...black for evening wear..." (again, paraphrase) and I can't agree more.

Plus, as someone who has looked for evening wear lately, I applaudly, loudly, Laura for doing evening wear with sleeves! Praise jesus and tell me where I can by that short evening dress with the flowers over the skirt, hem because I adore it!

I will also admit that I can't stand Jeffrey because he made his client CRY during the Mom's week!!! How fucking unprofessional.

I do admit that he did push his limits a bit but still, not enough and I want to see someone walk down the street who doesn't work in LA wear his clothes.

*irritated still*
