North Country

Finally got around to watching North Country. It was good. Not great, but decent. One thing I liked in particular was the lack of over-the-top histrionics, for the most part. I mean, instead of scenery-chewing bits like Nicholson's famous bit in A Few Good Men, it was a little more understated, which I appreciated. Yes, there were some manipulative moments -- Glory's part was a bit over the top in parts, and sometimes the writing devolved into caricatures, but overall, it was a bit better than I'd expected because it was a little quieter and not quite as preachy as I'd thought it might be. Twin Peaks connection: Chris Mulkey (Hank Jennings) plays a bad guy yet again.

Finally watched the first episode in I, Claudius. Much more to go.

My priest made 40 in World of Warcraft. Daylight Savings Time is utterly kicking me off schedule. I hate this time of year: it takes me so long to reorient my sleeping and waking times. I know it's only an hour, but when you're a natural night owl forcing yourself to be an early bird, anything that shifts that can really affect you.
