Yes, I watched the Oscars

I don't have much to say about 'em as most of the wins were predictable, but I will say that Dolly Parton still has it. Just all by herself, I think her performance of "Travelin' Thru" from Transamerica was my favorite moment of the night. Judging by their reactions, I'd say the jaded audience agreed, as they actually seemed entertained, and surprised at themselves for being entertained. Otherwise, I found the awards to be a bit of a yawn.

Stewart started off a little slow, then improved as he warmed up and got a little snarky. It was amusing to see how long it took the audience to get some of his jokes -- some of the content seemed to go over their heads -- Hollywood's luminaries seemed a little slow on the uptake. Still, overall, I think he played it a little safe.

Fashion -- I thought Salma Hayek looked best in her dress. She's a talented actress, but I didn't like Naomi Watts' choice of attire -- all that stuff on the front just sort of got in the way and looked like a tulle tumor. Sandra Bullock needed some lipstick or something -- she looked really washed out and drab.

What was the deal with the silver lapel pins that some of the men were wearing? I recall Samuel L. Jackson and one other guy.

List of winners here.
