Jack Frost nipping at your nose . . .

Feeling a little Christmasy, so I changed the background here to a quiet snowfall and hung a stocking from the first table on the page. :) Now that I've played around a bit with customizing the page, I may do more in the future, after the holidays. For now, though, it's enough for me to have a midnight snowfall on my LJ, since it is a near-certainty that we won't have snow at Christmas in my region. :/

Aww, come on, we got RAIN! That's Close!!

Anyway, Trust me, as a person raised in New England I can honestly say snow is over rated! Granted its pretty when it falls and there is a stillness in the air during a snowstorm that is hard to describe but the next day you have to shovel it out of your way. Then your car battery is dead and it takes an hour for your car to warm up. You have to scrape it off the windshield so you can see to drive, assuming the roads are clear. The day after its all dirty and brown from the salt/sand trucks and parking lots are full of big puddles of icy cold brown slush that finds any small hole in your boots, assuming you are smart enough to have boots on and didn't just ruin your best shoes forever in a salinated muddy slush puddle. Then theres what the salt and sand does to your car!! At least in GA the snow falls one evening and is gone by noon the next day, in the NE the snow falls in November and melts away in April! Trust me its WAY over rated!!

*Banshee cries*

buh . . . buh . . . I want snow! I spent the first five years of my life in Virginia, and dang it, we had snow! My mother would make us look like Weebles since we were so bundled up that perspiration was breaking out on our foreheads, but we got to play in it. I know it gets cold, and part of it gets dirty with the roads, and . . . I know there are disadvantages and I'm not saying that I want it all the time, just about two to three times a year would be just dandy with me. Our snowfalls are so piddly. :(

*continues to look wishfully at her background*

You're a sweetie for trying to cheer me up, though. :)

*hugs*

OK, how about we have some snow fall...but let it melt the next day? Then you get your falling snowflakes, but I don't have to trudge through icy puddles :) Deal?

I have really become acustomed to the weather here. My sister lived in Pittsburg for many years and then moved here. The last time it snowed she had her kids all bundled up in snowsuits and outside all day playing. I had my kids inside, the heater cranked and was praying I wouldn't need to go to the grocery store! The last thing I wanted to do was go outside! My sister said I was mean to not let the kids play in the snow but they don't have snowsuits or snowboots or scarfs, etc. They'd have been frozen to the core! They went outside fora few minutes, made some snowballs and decided for themselves that it was too cold. They are true Georgia Babies!
