I cancelled our long distance service with GTC Telecom today. They used to be a great company, before Sprint bought them out. After three letters sent to them with no response whatsoever (two in September, one in October), no refund of the charges that were made by them erroneously, and after sitting on hold for an hour one day (no exaggeration - I timed it, and it automatically cut me off after that time) and 30 minutes another day, on neither occasion getting through to anyone, I'd had it.
I finally managed to get through today, and spoke with someone who was definitely not a native English speaker - of Asian extraction, I would guess, and cancelled my account. He says a check for $5.70 will be in the mail to me, and that my account cancellation will go into effect on 12-1-04, tomorrow. We'll see.
Judging from my net search, I'm not the only one who's had problems with them.
Bad customer service will send me packing every single time.
