Enjoying Omnivore Status: High Cotton

Based on Stan's recommendation, we tried High Cotton last night. I tell you, I appreciate vegetables greatly, but sometimes, there's nothing quite like a good steak, so I'm glad to be an omnivore. (They do plenty of seafood, too.)

My filet mignon was flavorful, juicy, and melt-in-your-mouth tender, topped with a luxurious dab of bleu cheese butter and accompanied by a loaded baked potato. It wasn't an inexpensive restaurant, but it's worth it to splurge like that every now and then. The cabernet sauvignon that accompanied it, think it was called Sagewood, was decent as well, though it tasted more like a cab/merlot blend than a true full-on cabernet. David had the Cajun herbed steak topped with fried crawfish, but I don't think it was quite as delicious as mine was.

Very tasty and succulent, however, it can't beat one of the best steak bargains in the whole city: Prime's Early Bird $10 special. High Cotton's filet might have been a hair better than Prime's, but if we can get almost the same product for less than half the price at Prime, the wallet wins. On the other hand, High Cotton is around the corner from where we live, so if we're really hungry, convenience might prevail. Either way, both are good places to take care of carnivorous urges.
