Had to link to this thoughtful analysis by Terrance about Bill Cosby's recent remarks at Howard University.

For what it's worth, as I mentioned to him in the comments, there are plenty of women out there who make my life harder by continuing to perpetuate negative stereotypes about females, too. My least favorite ones are the helpless: "Oh, I just don't know anything 'bout these machines! They're too complex for little old me!" I just want to shake them. I think to myself: "Lady, you're younger than I am: there's pretty much no excuse for you not knowing what a mouse is. Computers have been around your entire life."

And then there are the ones who continue to insist that female gamers don't exist, often right on WomenGamers.com's message boards. Fortunately, I still have a sense of humor about folks who stand in the middle of a verdant meadow and yell at the top of their lungs that the grass isn't green. *smirk*

Intresting article, thanks for the linkage. Definatly gives you something to chew on.

Intrestingly enough yesterday Bravo was running specials on breakthroughs on television and the segments I watched were on both women and minorities on TV. It's intresting to see how we've gone from June Cleaver to Buffy in fifty years, but still have so much farther to go.
