For Demosthenians

I'll make phone calls to some of you, but Brian, good soul that he is, called me to let me know that Professor Blount had passed away.

How many times did I say "Mister/Madame President, honorable Professor Blount, Officers, Demosthenians, and guests,” before I stood to speak?

He was a genial, good-natured, charming and intelligent man who will be missed.

Oh my gosh! Does anyone know what happened? He was only in his 50's! What a loss, he was an amazing man and a friend to so many of us!

Brian said it was a heart attack; he went to the funeral today. And yes, it was young. I mean, he always looked younger than he was, but still -- it's a true shame.

I am glad some folks from the Society could get there. Had I known I might have tried to go myself. He was a great guy.

FWIW, I woulda called you to let you know in a more personal fashion, but I don't think I have your number. And yeah, I didn't know until after the fact, either.

However, I think Brian may have gone to the Mean Bean, so we were represented and there in spirit. :)
