Me too.

I will take it with a grain of salt because of the date and the fact that even if it's based on truth it doesn't mean he'll be chosen, but Whedon's a strong choice, and I'm not just saying that as a huge Whedon fanboy.

Buffy and Angel show's he's got a pretty good handle on superheroics and Serenity shows he can handle an ensemble cast well, which will be a key part of the Avengers film bringing together at least three actors who played their role as the marquee character (in this case Iron Man, Thor and Captain America are a lock, possibly bringing the Hulk into the mix as well and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they decided to add more characters, at least get one woman on the team, something I'm almost positive Whedon would fight for).

Blah, I think I'm on the verge of hyping myself up too much that if it doesn't happen I'll be crushed.

Yes, I agree with you about the grain of salt. Given that he was originally slated for Wonder Woman</a> and that fell through, maybe there's still a feeling in Hollywood that he's the right person to do a comic book movie, and that this could be a better fit? Maybe they're looking for the next Bryan Singer?

tis but an April Fools.

but i', sort f glad, i want Whedon on the small screen not tied up in development hell, distribution hell etc (see Cabin the Woods, Wonder Woman bla bla).

and sure, the avengers, ok... ensemble... nice...
but not exactly the X-Men are they?

No, they're not the X-Men, but some doubts were expressed about that one before its release, as I recall (I remember speculation about the costumes before it turned out that they wouldn't be wearing spandex).

So, I don't know. Maybe that's why he's being considered ... actually, that makes it an even better fit. It's not as huge a title, they can probably get him for less than some other folks, and if it falls flat, they don't have as huge an investment?

Yes, I'm wishing hard. This is an utterly biased post on my part. Biased, biased, biased, I tell you. :D

I'm holding the thought, but we'll see. :/ If it proves successful, I could see him stepping up to a niche perhaps similar to the one occupied by Bryan Singer, although a bit more diverse.

But ... but ... the headline for the source site says Not an April Fool's

I thought I read somewhere that Whedon was done with the small screen for a little while, after Dollhouse's demise? And sure, that's where I'd rather have him, too, but with every show of his except for Buffy getting cancelled prematurely, but winning an Emmy for Dr. Horrible, well, I couldn't blame him for taking that as a message.

From the bits I've been able to find on the 'net, Goners seems to be in development hell.

yeah goners is long gone (seemingly) unless the rights have shifted over to mgm from universal (execs having moved from one to the other).

that Joss seems to live so often in development hell is a deep and unfortunate irony. but you never know. anything could come out of the blue..

meantime i'm waiting on Tim and the Questor tapes :))
