Paul Harvey: Good Bye

Paul Harvey passed away on Saturday; I was sorry to hear of it. He was an engaging raconteur and a friendly voice to millions over the years, and his "rest of the stories" kept me company at my very first real job: working as a DJ at my local AM station.

Legendary broadcaster Paul Harvey dies

Broadcasting pioneer Paul Harvey dies at age of 90

Thanks to Patricia for sharing the second link.

He was part of the Greatest Generation; a broadcasting icon whose voice is now gone. His wife, Lynne, died in May of last year; it happens that way so often with longtime married couples.

He will be missed.

I remember that "The Rest of the Story" was something my mom would listen to on the drive home when she would pick me up from the babysitter/daycare center as a child. It's not something I would go out of my way to listen to, but he was a part of something I grew up with. And for that alone, as you say, he will be missed.

Yeah, I hadn't heard him in years -- I sort of left AM radio behind when I got to a metro FM area -- and it isn't something I'd seek out, but like you, it's something with which I grew up.
