Tea with Dr. Bombay and Tasty China

Dr. Bombay's Underwater Tea Party? Sounds whimsical. Unfortunately, it's rather far away ... perhaps some time when I'm seeing a movie at the Midtown Art Cinema, it might be worth a short detour.

In other scattered thoughts, I found myself missing Paris on this unseasonably warm Tuesday. Also, the more I learn about the Palm Pre (winner of the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show's Best in Show award), the more I covet one.

I tried Tasty China today. Not bad. The hot and sour soup was more hot than sour (I prefer more sour than hot, or 50/50), but not unpleasantly so. The Szechuan tofu with pork was a bit salty. I was a little concerned that I'd erred by ordering something too formidable when it arrived swimming in chili oil, but it was pleasantly spicy, and I say that as someone who has to be concerned about rosacea, so if I say it, it's nothing for most adults to worry about. The jasmine tea had apparently been heated on the surface of the sun, just the way I like it, creating that perfect synthesis of smooth burn when coupled with the spicy soup. I'll be heading back for further examination.
