Georgia vote misreported

Thanks to goodjoan for the link on this one.

Advance Votes Not Tallied In Fulton, Gwinnett Counties

Here's the link to the official government site.

Appalling. And Georgia was seeing some very bizarre circumstances involving voting machines as far back as Halloween.

I am sorry, but it stretches plausibility that two million votes could just accidentally go missing. This needs to be remedied. Now.

UPDATE, 10:25 am: It looks like the Senate race is going to a runoff. This isn't over.

*This* is why I didn't vote early! Early votes were counted as absentee ballots in many places. While some absentee ballots were done on paper and do need to be physically counted, which is why so many places don't even bother unless there is a statistically significant number of those ballots, the Diebold machines are instantaneous. I've watched a little old lady go down the checklist to have the machine spit out a paper ticket with the results then 'phone home' via a phone jack. It's simple. There is no need to sit and count those ballots. They have those numbers, they had them Friday evening! Somebody is sitting on them, hoping it will nudge things in one direction. Look at the website, Fulton is 70/30 for Obama! Another 2 million votes could be 1.5mil more votes for Obama! Thankfully, the rest of the country did the right thing so Ga's votes for president don't really matter but this DOES affect congress still.

I am really annoyed that this is happening. Sadly, the good ole' boy network is still alive and kicking, or trying to kick in Georgia.

It seems to me that they need a nationwide standardization of the voting process.

I agree -- something hypersecure, tested, and very, very difficult to hack.
