Every time I think I can't get more appalled, someone proves me wrong:

Thieves steal $1,200 in holiday gifts from single mom

That is truly appalling. I can't decide which is worse: this, or the folks that stole ~$60K in toys from a local charity that collects for under-privileged families. The scope of the second one is worse by far, but I somehow doubt there will be a massive radio call-in program to replace everything for this single family, so the end result for them is likely worse.

It isn't even the theft itself that bothers me as much as the malice and vandalism. This was just incredibly hostile.

I admit, I'm wondering how a single mom got $1,200 in presents! I hope her community pitches in to help her replace what was stolen. I heard on the radio this morning that they are pretty sure they know who did it. Kids are generally not very subtle, or discreet! Perhaps they can get the stuff back.

But yeah, some people are jerks!

I hope they get everything back, and severely punish the perpetrators. What bothers me most isn't the theft, but the sheer malice of the vandalism. They could have just taken the stuff and left, which would have been bad enough, but the sheer hostility of the act ... it's really the ugly side of humanity.
