BSG: best show on television in 2006

I only have a few words to say, but those words are surely spoilers.

I am so relieved about Kasey. So many things happened in this episode, including Gaius growing a pair, at least temporarily.

But the thing that got me most ... oh, poor, poor, poor Saul. That is unbearable. To lose an eye, and then to lose Ellen. I can't believe he killed her. For however wretched many moments had been during their marriage, she was still his wife. She truly did do all of that for him. Yes, I know she put the whole mission at risk, but Anders of all people should know what it's like to have your spouse incarcerated by the Cylons, and Ellen isn't a soldier like Starbuck. I'm not going to be the one to cast the first stone at her. To have lost your home world, to have lost so many that you cared about ... I haven't walked a mile in her shoes: I can't condemn her entirely for her actions when Saul is all that she has left. Ellen was selfish, and yet, how far would you go to save your spouse?

Outside of the cut, all I can say is that if you're not watching this show, get thee to Netflix and get caught up on the previous seasons while recording the current airing; then watch those.

On a related note, this is awesome. (Courtesy of battlestar_blog.)

I just recently got caught up about a week ago with everything. So this is the first episode I actually caught on the same week of it's airing. And let me tell you, it feels good to finally be caught up.

I never thought Ellen Tigh's death would bother me. She was obnoxious, interested primarily in herself, and I believe she brought out some of the worst elements in Tigh. And yet my eyes were watering when I watched this episode. I kept telling myself "They're just knocking her out, so that she doesn't cause anymore trouble before the Galactica arrives." But in truth I knew that's not how the show works. Bad stuff happens in BSG all the time. It's hard, it's rough, and depressing and it's the best damn hour of television right now.

I do hope we get rid of Chunky Apollo though. Sometimes the fat suit stuff they add looks really good and really convincing, and other times it looks kinda silly and fake.
