Dobbs on voting machines

CNN's Lou Dobbs: Voting machines put U.S. democracy at risk

Also, from Rolling Stone:

2004 election a statistical improbability

Even considering the author on the last one, these are both mainstream publications, not the bleeding fringe of the tinfoil brigade.

I absolutely agree that voting machines as they are currently being implemented are a bad idea, and are bound to be abused... however, the Robert Kennedy Rolling Stone piece was pretty soundly criticized by authors from that raging den of conservative thought, Salon magazine.

Oh, I'm sure it was. Like I said, "even considering the author." However, what interests me about it is not so much who's saying it, but that the issue has moved into mainstream media at this point. I'd imagine that the primary motivation is election year story fodder, and we'll see the topic dropped after November, only to be resurrected shortly before the next election cycle.

I just wonder if anything will actually be done.
