Witness for the Prosecution

Witness for the Prosecution was my most recent Netflix DVD; we watched it tonight. In my opinion, the movie is a bit dated. I imagine it was great when it was released, but the problem is that I've seen contemporary flicks that pulled the same tricks or better, and I read too much Agatha Christie as a youngster, so I saw things coming.

The performances are still enjoyable, though. Charles Laughton is fun as the grouchy barrister, and Marlene Dietrich is very good indeed. I can't say more about the performances without spoiling the plot twists for any of you who may see it in the future.

And sometimes, just knowing that there IS a plot twist (the 6th sense) is enough to ruin a movie.

However, I would expect plot twists in a mystery, and I have no particular plans to see this film, so I probably won't. Thank you for the concise yet informative review. :)

I agree about the plot twist: if you know about it, you're looking for it, so it changes the way you view the movie.

Thanks for reading. I'm glad that you are back. :)
